It appears that the Chuka University administration wants to budge us until we clear our goddamn school fees to the last coin. Even so, students are on CUSA officials' necks blaming them for not fighting for their rights.

Kenyan money

The CUC facebook community is more active on the fee clearance issue than ever. However, talking and posting and social media won't help until someone gets to the root of the problem. So, why does the school administration want the cash upon registration?

We, as the Chuka Uni Gossip team, decided to investigate on the matter. The Chuka University Students' Union chairman - Harrison Wanjohi Maina, who allegedly won the seat fraudulently claims that the institution has a debt of over Sh.44 million after the government slashed Sh.70 million off its annual funding last month.

Your student leader goes o to claim that the varsity can't be managed without money - lecturers need to get paid, electricity and water bills must be paid...blah..blah..blah - which is quite true. But not veeery true. The school actually has money and I will prove it to you.

Over 4,000 first year students (freshas) streamed into the institution last week on 5th September 2016 and each and everyone of them paid an average of sh.36,000 to the school bank accounts. So as we are speaking sh.(4,000 x 36,000) = sh.144 million relaxes as Wanjohi with his pot belly claims that Chuka University is in debt.

Let's assume that among the current 2nd, 3rd and 4th years, about 3,000 have already cleared this semester's fee balance which will average to about sh.20,200. If we do some simple calculations here (3000 x 20200) = sh.60.6 million. In short the school has more than 200 million in their account.

In those statistics, we have purely ignored the self sponsored students (SSP) but just keep it in mind that they exist and they pay a lot more than you government sponsored brutes that are busy posting complaints on CUC live which if you had no idea is being controlled by the Chuka University administration.

Why should they hasten us to pay for electricity and water bills while most of us don't even use these resources? If I live in a small hostel in Mungoni where I pay for both water and electricity which I actually use by the way- why then does someone force me to pay for something that doesn't concern me. It's like Nakumatt supermarket rewarding customers for shopping at Tuskys.

Now, to the real reason this money is being needed like at the moment is: ****(drumrolls)**** the big males' hostel that is being put up just on the pavilion's ass. By the way, that is just not any building being constructed right at the center of Chuka University.. its a multi million investment kick started by Uhuru Kenyatta.

Apparently, the fourth president of this country donated about a billion Kenya shillings to aid in starting up the hostel project. The hostel is said to host over 5000 inmates lol. It needs a lot of money to build this project not just "some money"- I'm talking billions of cash over here bro... and your school fees can't off set it.

What are your thoughts on this? Does the VC need the money to complete building the money making hostel? Tell us in the comments below or send an email to Chukaunigossip@gmail.com
